A referendum is a direct vote in which the entire student body is asked to either accept or reject a particular proposal. When appropriate, members of the TCU may propose a referendum to force the Senate to act on particular issues, or to amend the TCU Constitution.

Official Guidelines
Referenda are carried out in accordance with the TCU Constitution Article VII as well as with the ECOM Bylaws Article V, Section 3

Referenda Procedure
   1. Three members of the TCU must submit different written proposals to the Senate explaining the need for the referendum, and provide the wording of the question to be posed to the student body.
   2. Both the CSL and the TCUJ must examine and approve the question for adherence to University policies and fairness.
   3. The sponsors of the referendum must collect and present to the TCUJ 250 signitures affirming the appropriateness of posing the question.
   4. ECOM will pose the question to the student body in a campus-wide vote, and the Senate will act in accordance with the outcome.
