Officers

  • Heather Buckner

At the young age of 18, Heather left her humble home in Minnetonka Minnesota, to pursue her newly discovered dream of of attending Tufts University. She is now achieving that dream; she has in fact been achieving that dream for over two years, and has finally risen to the prestigious position of Junior Environmental and American studies major. Her environmental interest stems from her love of canoes, which she hopes will always have a clean surface on which to float. Aside from ECO, she has worked for the Will Steger foundation, and helped plan Minnesota Powershift 2008. She also believes strongly in the Oreo as the ultimate cookie.

I'm psyched for ECO to start, and to work on alternative energy, food and farming, and go to the loj to play three toed sloth.

  • Yosefa Ehrlich

Born in cheery Jersey, Yosefa is enjoying her third year at Tufts where she studies psychology and environmental studies. Drawn to environmental concern through her passion and enthusiasm for food Yosefa credits Michael Pollan's "Omnivore's Dilemma" with providing the framework for the heartfelt environmental indignation that makes her an appropriate member of the ECO team. She also sings in the gospel choir.

  • Lizzie DeWan
Lizzie DeWan is a senior majoring in International Relations. This is her second semester as an ECO Officer and she is excited to lead the revamped "Do It in the Dark: Living Green at Tufts" campaign. Favorite environmentally friendly activities include biking to nearby Spy Pond and going to the Davis Square farmers' market.

  • Raeann Bourscheid
Raeann is embarking on her third and most exciting year of study in the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department. While she loves all things ecolicious, she is currently ECO's (very unskilled) webmaster. She's also into alternative energy, and will probably end up a happy member of a climate change committee this semester. Her secret ambition is to own an ice cream store serving at least 40 different flavors.

I have a deep fascination with how our society works and what to do to improve it for future generations. The foundation of it all is the environment. I'm especially interested in how, where, and from whom we get our food, transportation systems, and green buildings. I'll be abroad in Costa Rica during the spring semester of 2008 studying sustainable development, and I hope to come back with a sense of what that means for nations that are already "developed."
