John Mulligan, Lecturer and Interim Technical Director

John comes to Tufts University from Boston University where he spent four years as the BUT Scene Shop Supervisor. As the student’s immediate supervisor he assisted in the management of the Technical Production department and taught courses in advanced wood and metal fabrication. Prior Technical Direction experience includes work for BU’s Boston Center for American Performance and the Brandeis University Theatre Department. He is a graduate of the North Bennet Street School’s Cabinet and Furnituremaking Program and builds custom cabinetry and furniture for private clients. John holds Massachusetts state certifications in construction management, hazardous material mitigation, and emergency medicine. He is certified rigger through FEMA’s SCT program. He holds an MFA in Technical Production from Boston University and a BA in Theatre Technology from Lynchburg College.
