Drama Program: Graduate Students & TAs
Graduate Students Heather Phillips Heather Phillips, known to many as "Hesse," is a Ph.D. candidate currently writing her dissertation, "Of Beasts and Men: Animal Bloodsports in Early Modern England." Hesse is originally from Pittsburgh, but considers herself a Vermonter in honor of her time spent at Marlboro College, where she wrote her senior thesis on queer themes in Marlowe and Shakespeare. In her dissertation, she combines her interest in early modern drama with her childhood passion for nature, examining the gruesome practice of bear-baiting through an eco-critical lens. She has been published in Asian Theatre Journal and Theatre Research International. |
