Alyssa Brown

Alyssa Brown is a 4th year Ph.D. candidate. She received her B.A. in English and in Theatre from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon (2002). There, Alyssa developed an interest in community theatre projects that draw parallels between historical and current events, which drew her to graduate studies in theatre. Currently beginning work on her dissertation concerning the dramatization of famine crises, Alyssa maintains an interest in Shakespearean studies while developing her interest in theatre and ecology. She has presented her work on Shakespeare and Irish theatre at ASTR and at the National University of Ireland. The scope of her dissertation counts economic history, environmental issues, and dramatic literature among its primary concerns, the interdisciplinary nature of which speaks to her diverse teaching experiences in the classroom.
