Dance Program: Facilities

Dance Lab

The program manages two studio spaces for its classes and some events. These also serve extra-curricular dance. The Jackson Dance Lab was renovated during 2006 and is the site of most curricular classes and events. This dance space is the front half of a former gym in Jackson and is equipped with portable barres, mirrors, marley over dance sub-surface, black curtains 3/4ths around, seating for 100, stage lights, and a concert quality sound system. It can accommodate small, informal department and extra-curricular events. A smaller studio located across the hall is fully outfitted for classes and rehearsals, including marley over a sprung floor. (The Dance Program also produces events in other facilities from time to time.)

Either Jackson dance space may be reserved (pending availability) through the Dance Office (ext. 72556 or dance@tufts.edu) for appropriate dance activities. Student groups are required to complete a space contract that includes the listing of a budget number. Individuals are helped differently.
