Summer Adventures in Reading

Educators and parents often voice concerns about the possible negative impact of summer vacation on student learning. Research has found that each summer children lose the amount skills roughly equivalent to 1 month of classroom instruction. As a result, the primary intent of our reading program is to maintain the student’s reading level. Whenever possible the program also strives to consolidate and potentially increase reading skills at this crucial developmental period.

The Center for Reading and Language Research (CRLR) strives to provide the highest quality remedial instruction and content engagement to ensure reading skills remain intact over the critical out of school months. This summer, the CRLR is offering small group tutorials to children entering grades 2-4 who are not reading at grade level.
