Summer Program

This summer the Center for Reading and Language Research (CRLR) at Tufts University is offering small group instruction for students entering 2nd - 5th grade who are reading below grade level.

The CRLR strives to provide the highest quality remedial instruction and content engagement to ensure reading skills remain intact over the critical out of school months. Each intervention begins with a review of the student's records and a complete assessment to formulate a reading profile. Scores from assessments are used to formulate instructional goals and create student groups of similar skill profiles. Students will be grouped according to their ability and age, and groups will not exceed 4 children.

Program Schedule & Details

Each year the Summer Reading Program integrates specialized reading instruction with daily, engaging enrichment activities. These activities are facilitated by professionals within and outside of the Tufts community. Previous year's activities have included the instruction of circus skills, drumming lessons, and science experiments. Enrichment activities not only break up the students' instructional day but also offer alternative learning experiences.
