Guest Speaker:
Renée Boynton-Jarrett, MD, ScD
Dr. Boynton-Jarrett is a primary care pediatrician at Boston Medical Center and Social Epidemiologist featured in The Raising of America. She is also an associate professor of pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine. Boynton-Jarrett founded the Vital Village Community Engagement Network which supports the development of community-based strategies to promote child well-being in three Boston neighborhoods. Her research includes looking at the role of early-life adversities as life course social determinants of health, the intersection of community violence, intimate partner violence, and child abuse and neglect and neighborhood characteristics that influence these patterns. Much of her work concentrates on psychosocial stress and neuroendocrine and reproductive health outcomes which include obesity and early puberty.
