Research Associate Position Description

This position is generally open to a post-doctoral candidate or a pre-doc whose dissertation topic is central to areas of research currently underway at the Center. The position carries with it a stipend of approximately $36,568 (plus benefits) for the academic year and the full use of University facilities. The accomodations and privileges are exactly as for the Visiting Fellowship.

The appointment of a Research Associate is dependent on several factors, among which is Prof. Dennett's foreseen availability. If he will not be around (due to a heavy speaking schedule, sabbatical or whatever) he is not disposed to appoint a research associate for the same reasons as indicated above. Another factor in his decision is somewhat arbitrary, resting on what his principal area of research is at the time the position comes open. In short, he does not think it makes much sense to bring visitors to the Center who will not be in a position to benefit directly from, and benefit in turn, the work that is currently occupying him and others at the Center.
