In 1948, Phyllis' husband, William Brauner, a physicist and electrical
engineer was killed in an airplane crash while on a mission for
the U.S. Army. The U.S. Air Force B-29 bomber crashed in southern
Georgia and all three engineers aboard were killed. Their widows
sued for negligence, but were never able to prove their case, because
the Air Force refused to turn over the accident report, saying it
could not do so without violating national security. A half a century
later this case is re-opened. Relatives of the men who died in the
1948 U.S. Air Force plane crash say the Air Force committed fraud
against the U.S Supreme Court in the original case. In a petition
filed with the court, they claim the Air Force lied to the court
and caused it to come to the wrong decision in the case surrounding
the crash. Information about this case can be found at the links
below.
