About HHMI

In 2006, Professor Walt was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Professor’s Award. The primary objective for the ARRAYS project is to inspire interest in science by creating opportunities for young scientists to participate in real world research. The specific activities of the grant include developing innovative research experiences for Tufts’ undergraduate students, improving graduate level data gathering and analysis by connecting computer science students and science majors, and continuing Professor Walt’s long time focus on outreach to local K-12 students and teachers in the area of science education.
