Joanna Huckins |
Joanna Huckins coordinates the department's interactions with industry. In this regard, Tufts is ideally located in a burgeoning hub for pharmaceutical and biotech industry (with companies including Wyeth, Biogen, Novartis, and Genzyme)
and other companies employing our graduates in the areas of electronics
materials, consulting, environmental engineering, and specialty
chemicals.
Outreach:
Periodic contact is made to nearby companies highlighting the department and
providing interactive opportunities with our students. This is accomplished
through:
- Scheduled visits from company representatives;
- Student internships;
- Access to our Student Database (coming soon); and
- Organizing an Employment Database (coming soon) with open positions provided by our
industrial contacts.
In addition to departmental efforts, the School of Engineering
and the University also provide career service opportunities.
Departmental Contributions:
The Department recently established two new fundraising initiatives, the
"Professor Martin V. Sussman Memorial Scholarship" and the "Professor Gregory Botsaris
Lectureship." Learn more about these initiatives.
Companies interested in contributing to the department may join the
Friends of the Department (coming soon) club. Contributions will be used to upgrade the department’s facilities, equipment, and resources for student aid. Specific projects include: undergraduate projects lab, instrumentation upgrades, and laboratory infrastructure for a junior-level integrated biochemical engineering lab class.
