Research Information
My current position entails expressing the genes for intermediates in erythromycin production isolated from its native host Saccharopolyspora erythraea in Bacillus subtilis. This is a collaborative project between our group in the Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering and Prof. Sonenshein's group in the Departments of Molecular Microbiology and Genetics in the Tufts University Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences.

Personal Information
I hold B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in microbiology from Panjab University in Chandigarh, India. Following my doctoral research, I was a Research Associate for the Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI) in New Delhi, India and more recently Postdoctoral Scientist at Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) in Woods Hole, MA under the direction of Dr. Mitchell L. Sogin. My research interests include: microbial diversity and ecology, microbial physiology, natural product discovery, fermentation, microbial genomics, gene expression, and functional genes in microorganisms.
