Dale Gyure
Adjunct Assistant Professor
Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering

Biography:
Dale C. Gyure is an independent consultant in chemical and biochemical
engineering (BioProducts International) and for the past nine years has helped
clients with engineering and market research, process development, business
planning, team leadership/management, plant management and small company
start-ups. Dale holds a doctorate in chemical engineering (University of
Colorado, 1984 and University Doctoral Fellow), has twenty years of industrial
experience and has participated in the start-up and growth of several biotech
companies. Since the year 2000, Dale has taught Chemical Engineering Projects Lab (ChBE 24A/B) and
Technical Writing / Business Communications (ES 51), and Thermodynamics and Process Calculations I and II Lab (ChBE 10 LA/LB) at Tufts University.
Chemical Engineering Projects Lab is a two-semester course offered in the senior
year. In the class Dale challenges students in the areas of creativity, critical
thinking, entrepreneurship, time management, priority setting, technical writing
and self directed project teams. Semester-long and/or year-long open ended
research projects allow students to exercise their knowledge of chemical
engineering fundamentals but also prepare them for graduate study or a
research/development position in industry. We enjoy a few collaborative
relationships with outside companies and research groups.
Dale’s research interests include various early stage ventures in natural
products, novel therapeutics and nutraceuticals. His academic interests include
the dynamics of self directed work teams and teaching critical thinking skills
in engineering.
