FAQ's for Entry Level Master's (ELM)
**Note, starting in 2012, we are no longer offering our Spring
start program to incoming ELM students. All ELM applicants must
apply for the Fall deadline.
Q:
What is the application deadline?
A: The application deadline for the Entry-Level Master’s program is
January 15 for fall admission.
Q:
How many people enroll in the program each year? How many people graduate from the
program each year? What is the attrition rate?
A: Average class size over the last several years has been
30-35 students. Enrollment, (includes students in 1st year, 2nd year,
and Level II FW stages of the entry-level program) graduation (includes recipients of entry-level and post-professional master's degrees),
and attrition figures for the last three years are below.

Q: How do Tufts graduates perform on the
NBCOT Certification Exam?
A: Very well!
The total number of graduates who passed the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification examination as first-time new graduate test takers in 2008-2010 was
90 out of 103, which is a pass rate of 87%. During that 3-year time period, the program had 120 graduates.
Q: What are the prerequisites for admission to the program?
A: There are a total of 5 prerequisite courses which must be passes with a grade
of B- or better and taken at an accredited college or university. Candidates may
apply and be accepted while completing the prerequisites. However, all
prerequisites must be successfully completed before matriculation.
- Two courses in social sciences; i.e. anthropology,
psychology, sociology, human development (no online courses accepted).
- Two courses in cell based human biology, (Anatomy and
physiology may be substituted for the biology prerequisite.) One Bio course
must have a lab component (no online courses accepted).
- One course in introductory statistics (will accept online courses
for stats prereq).
Q: Do you accept online courses for prereqs?
A: The only online course we will accept towards prereqs is stats.
All other courses must be completed on site.
Q: How can I make sure that my prereq course
counts?
A: You can email a copy of the course, where you
took it, and a course
description to Jill Rocca.
Q: Do I need volunteer experience?
A: Yes, but there is no specific requirement for the number of hours.
Q: How many candidates apply and how many are accepted?
A: The number of applicants
varies each semester. Each candidate is evaluated on an individual
basis.
Q: Do you have cut off GRE scores?
A: In general, there is
no cutoff score. However, those accepted score at least 1000 combined or higher.
Q: What are the policies concerning visiting BSOT; i.e. interviews,
appointments, information sessions?
A: Information (brochure and application materials) will be sent upon request by
calling the department at (617) 627-5720. BSOT conducts info sessions throughout
the year. Potential candidates should
view our Information Session schedule or call for dates and
times. Faculty members are present to answer any and all questions. Interviews
are not required nor are they necessary. Occasionally, candidates may want to
visit in person and observe a class. This can be done with the permission of the
instructor and is arranged by calling the department.
Q: Can I apply for the ELM program
even though I have not yet completed my
prerequisite courses?
A: Yes, you may apply before you complete your
prereqs. If you are accepted,
you will be issued a "conditional acceptance." This means that you
will be officially accepted upon completion of your prereqs. You
must submit your transcript showing your completion and grade to our
department before you
enroll for classes.
Q: Will applying before completing
my prerequisites put me at a disadvantage?
A: We have a very competitive pool of applicants. A
student who has completed
all prereqs may have a slight advantage. If you do not get in, you
may want to reapply after completing your prereqs

FAQ's for Post-Professional Master's
Program (PPM)
**Note, starting in 2012, all international students must
apply for Fall admissions. We will accept January admissions for
domestic PPM applicants only.
Q: Is the Post-Professional Program a full time
or part time program?
A: International students must maintain full time
status while completing the program. Domestic students have the
option of completing the program on a full--time or part-time basis.
Q: When is the application deadline?
A:
All international students must apply by Dec 15th for Fall
admissions. Domestic students may apply for Fall: Jan 15th deadline
or Spring: Oct 15th deadline.

Post-Professional Master's Program?
A: Please visit the
Graduate School website and fill out the form to receive information in the
mail.
FAQ's for OTD's
Q: What is the application deadline?
A: Candidates have the option of apply for admissions during the
fall and spring semesters. Fall applications are due January 15 and
spring applications are due October 15.
Q: How do I receive more information on the OTD Program?
A: Please visit the
