Dr. Doherty teaches courses in clinical reasoning, health conditions, occupation and adaptation and topics in cognition and perception. She has extensive clinical experience working with adult and pediatric clients in the inpatient hospital, intensive care and outpatient settings. Dr. Doherty is a recognized leader in the field of clinical ethics. She is the author of numerous publications including book chapters on the topic of ethics and occupational therapy. Her research interests are in the area of ethical reasoning in the health professions and acute care occupational therapy practice. Dr. Doherty has participated on interdisciplinary grants and served in clinical leadership positions at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) where she continues to practice as an occupational therapist. She holds an appointment as an Ethics Associate at the MGH Institute of Health Professions where she has served as a consultant, course instructor and interdisciplinary faculty member. Dr. Doherty is a proud BSOT alumnus and an avid Red Sox fan.
