National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
Graduates of the entry-level master's program will be eligible to apply for the National Board for
Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this examination, the individual

certification examination, please contact NBCOT at 301-990-7979 or visit

Most states require licensure in order for therapists to practice.
Some state licenses are based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination.
For information regarding NBCOT's procedures, please contact the National Board for
Certification in O.T., 800 S. Frederick Avenue, Suite 200, Gaithersburg, MD 20877-4150;

licensure procedures, contact the respective state.
Please note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate's ability to sit for the NBCOT
certification examination or attain state licensure.

Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification
examination as first-time new graduate test takers in 2008-2010 was
