ABOUT US
Tufts
Biology Society encourages students interested in biology to
get together and share information - about classes, research,
etc. and provides support, guidance, and information to those
considering a career in a field related to the biological sciences.
Most importantly, we believe that biology should be fun - field
trips and social events are an integral part of the Society’s
activities. More specifically, our goals are:
- To provide
information and advice on standardized tests required for
admission to graduate school and medical school (GRE &
MCAT).
- To invite
speakers from medical schools and graduate schools to discuss
the admissions process.
- To invite
speakers from biologically-oriented companies to discuss career
opportunities.
- To invite
notable speakers to discuss current issues and research in
the biological sciences.
- To encourage
graduating seniors and alumni to participate in panels/forums
to share their experiences in searching for a job and applying
to graduate school.
- To visit
biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, and other local
places of interest, such as the Museum of Science.
to compile information and books about graduate schools and
job listings.
- To provide
information about student research in biology at Tufts.
- To collect
students’ opinions of courses offered by the Biology
Department, as well as provide additional help in these courses.
- To maintain
a website to post undergraduate research papers, links to
job listings and internships, seniors’ and alumni’s
advice on various topics, etc.
- To encourage
members to come up with ideas for Society’s activities.
