Harry Bernheim
Associate Professor Human Physiology and Immunology

Research Interests
Dr. Bernheim is interested in the integration of the immunological responses,
specifically how cytokines affect the outcome of host parasite
interactions.
Besides being Chair of the Biology Department, Harry is very
involved in University activities including his position as Chair of the Health Professions
Recommendation Committee (HPRC), which is responsible for writing
letters of recommendation for students applying to health
professional schools.
Dr. Bernheim is also Co-Chair of the Committee on Student Life (CSL), a group
of faculty and students that hear student appeals to disciplinary
decisions.
Harry serves on the Advisory Board for the Community Health
Major, a discipline that investigates the reaction and actions
that a community takes to various health issues, and he serves on the Committee on Committees, which helps assign faculty
members to various committees.
Dr. Bernheim also serves on the Faculty Research Awards Committee which has the
pleasant task of allocating funds to faculty for research both
within and outside the University.
Prof. Bernheim is the Faculty Advisor to students who organize and run the
Undergraduate Research and Scholarship Symposium. This annual
symposium allows students to showcase their original research and
scholarship they have conducted or participated in during the
current academic year.
Harry also serves on the committee for academic standing and honors.
