The Center
Interdisciplinary approaches, technological innovation,
cutting-edge research, dedicated faculty, and the pursuit to resolve complex
challenges at the interface of biology and engineering
The growing fields of Bioengineering and Biotechnology are:
- Advancing fundamental concepts.
- Increasing knowledge from the molecular to the
organ systems level.
- Developing innovative processes, implants,
devices, and informatics.
- Crafting approaches for the prevention,
diagnosis, and treatment of disease.
- Improving patient rehabilitation techniques and
overall environmental and human health.
The Bioengineering and Biotechnology Center @ Tufts
University draws upon resources and expertise from Tufts' three campuses and
includes the Schools of Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Engineering, Dental
Medicine, the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences, and the Cummings
School of Veterinary Medicine--a combination unlike any other in the Northeast.
In addition, the Center maintains collaborations with the biotechnology
industry, governmental laboratories, and affiliated university laboratories.
These ties provide the network from which a full range of research and
educational opportunities are available to students and professionals.
