TUFTS UNIVERSITY WINS 2009 TUFTS INVITATIONAL ON TIE-BREAKER
MEDFORD -- The Tufts University volleyball team won its third Tufts
Invitational title, but its first since 2006, on Saturday at Cousens
Gymnasium. The Jumbos won all four of their matches during the weekend,
as did MIT. However, Tufts was declared the champion due to a 12-1
record in sets. MIT was 12-2 in sets after coming back from down two
sets to defeat Hiram in five on Saturday. Tufts and MIT did not meet
head-to-head during the weekend. The only set Tufts lost was the first
against Hiram College on Friday night.
Wellesley College also came back from down two against Keene State on
Saturday to win in five and grab third place in the tournament with a
3-1 record.
