MEDFORD -- Senior co-captain Brogie Helgeson (Santa Cruz, CA) had 13 kills with two errors in 26 attempts for an outstanding .423 hitting percentage as the Tufts University volleyball team, won its 18th match in a row with a 3-0 final against Bates College in NESCAC play at Bowdoin on Friday night.

Tufts, which received votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll this week, won three fairly tight sets against a Bobcat team that is winless in the league. The set scores were 31-29, 25-23, 25-21.

Senior co-captain Dena Feiger (Long Grove, IL) had 33 assists in the three matches, with junior Caitlin Updike (Manhattan Beach, CA) capitalizing for 10 kills. She also contributed two service aces to the offense. The Jumbos had three players in double-digits for digs, led by 14 from sophomore Audrey Kuan (Los Altos, CA). Junior Erica Lokken (Houston, TX) was in on four blocks at the net, while first-year Brittany Neff (Culver City, CA) had three (one solo).

Senior Tess Dokus (Fairport, NY) had a team-high eight kills for Bates, along with four digs. First-year Eliza Pyne (Atherton, CA) had a team-high four blocks with four kills, and sophomore Grace Haessler (Portland, OR) had 27 assists with three kills and three blocks.

Coach Cora Thompson's Jumbos continue conference play tomorrow against Colby at Bowdoin beginning at 1:30 pm.
