Brogie Helgeson made contributions on both sides of the net with nine kills and five digs

WENHAM -- The Tufts University volleyball team improved to 4-1 overall with a 3-0 victory at Gordon College on Tuesday evening. The Jumbos sandwiched a 25-10 rout in the second set in between 25-23 wins in both the first and third sets.

Senior co-captain Brogie Helgeson (Santa Cruz, CA) and junior Caitlin Updike (Manhattan Beach, CA) led Tufts offensively with nine kills apiece. First-year Kiersten Ellefsen (Goshen, NY) made a solid contribution with six kills and one error in 11 attempts. The Jumbos also got a first-year contribution from setter Kendall Lord (LaJolla, CA), who had 14 assists in one set while relieving senior co-captain Dena Feiger (Long Grove, IL), who recorded 23 assists.

Defensively, sophomore Audrey Kuan (Los Altos, CA) led with nine kills and junior Kelly Engelking (Westborough, MA) added eight.

The Jumbos open their home and NESCAC seasons on Friday night against Wesleyan University. It will be the first match inside the newly renovated Cousens Gymnasium.
