TUFTS TO HOST NCAA TOURNAMENT VOLLEYBALL REGIONAL NOVEMBER 13-15

MEDFORD -- Tufts University was selected as one of the eight host sites for the regional round of the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship on November 13-15.

Play begins this Thursday (Nov. 13) with four first-round matches. Williams College (25-12) is the fourth seed and will play against fifth seed Keene State College (29-8) at 1:00 pm. Springfield College (31-4) is the top seed at the Tufts regional and will play #8 seed Maine Maritime Academy (19-8) at 3:30 pm. Third-seed Wellesley College (26-7) faces #6 Endicott College (24-14) at 6:00 pm. Second seed Tufts (28-3) will host #7 Bridgewater State College (12-23) in an 8:30 match.

The regional semi-finals will be played on Friday (Nov. 14) at 4:30 pm and 7 pm. The regional championship is set for Saturday (Nov. 15) at 7 pm.

Tickets will be sold to the event. Prices are adults $5.00 per day, students $3.00 per day, children under 12 $2.00 per day.

JumboCast, Tufts University's student webcasting outfit, will present live coverage of all seven matches free of charge. Those will be available at www.jumbocast.com.

Sixty-one teams overall were selected for the championship. Regional winners will advance to the championship finals to be held November 20-22 at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Illinois and hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University.

This is the first NCAA Volleyball hosting opportunity for Tufts. The other regional sites are Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania; University of La Verne in California, New York University in New York City; University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota; Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas; University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
