TUFTS VOLLEYBALL TRIO GAINS AVCA HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICA NOTICE

Senior Natalie Goldstein is one of three Jumbos on the Honorable Mention All-America list

MEDFORD -- Capping an outstanding 2008 season, the Tufts University volleyball team had three players named to the 2008 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division IIII Honorable Mention All-America list. This marked the first time in the program's history that more than one Tufts player earned the AVCA national honor.

Junior setter Dena Feiger (Long Grove, IL), senior libero Natalie Goldstein (Piedmont, CA) and sophomore outside hitter Dawson Joyce-Mendive (Minden, NV) were the Jumbos who earned Honorable Mention All-America accolades. Tufts has now had a player on the All-America release for six straight years. This season's trio joined Katie Wysham (2007), Kelly Harrison (2006, 2004), Kaitly O'Reilly (2003) and current assistant coach Courtney Evans (2002) as Jumbos who have received Honorable Mention All-America honors.

Through November 9, Feiger was ranked 22nd in the country with 10.19 assists per set. That's the average that she finished the season at. Goldstein was voted New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Defensive Player of the Year and averaged 4.55 digs in 33 matches. Joyce-Mendive was the team's top hitter for the second straight year, averaging 3.53 kills per set.

Tufts finished 29-4 and posted a perfect 10-0 record in the league. The Jumbos hosted the conference and NCAA Regional tournaments at Cousens Gym.
