FEIGER TAKES NESCAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR HER ROLE IN JUMBO ROLL

NESCAC Player of the Week Dena Feiger and the rest of the Jumbos have won three in a row

MEDFORD -- The Tufts University Volleyball team is coming off one of its best weeks of the seasons with victories on the road at Brandeis and in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play against Trinity College and Wesleyan University. After playing a prominent role in the team's success last week, sophomore setter Dena Feiger (Long Grove, IL/Adlai Stevenson) was selected as the conference's Player of the Week.

Feiger was involved in all facets of the game throughout the week. She finished the three matches (10 games) with per game averages of 12.0 assists, 4.6 digs, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 kills.

Heading into their match at Brandeis University on Tuesday (Oct. 9), the Jumbos had lost three in a row and five out of their last six. They earned a 3-1 victory over a good Brandeis team that had not lost at home in 17 straight matches dating back to the 2005 season. The loss dropped the Judges to 15-5 for the season. Feiger finished the match with 48 assists, 17 digs, three kills, a solo block and three block assists.

Over the weekend the Jumbos traveled to Amherst College to continue their conference season. They had just one win in league play entering Friday night's contest against Trinity College. They defeated the Bantams 3-0 with Feiger's 35 assists, 16 digs, four kills and four block assists helping lead the way.  Then against a Wesleyan squad with a 4-2 NESCAC record entering Saturday's match, Tufts won in three games again. Feiger finished her week with a bang, setting for 37 assists with 13 digs, four kills and four block assists.

Tufts is now 11-11 overall and 3-3 in NESCAC heading into their final home match of the regular season on Tuesday night against Connecticut College. The team is tied for sixth place in the conference. The Jumbos are third in the league for kills per game with a 13.36 average.
