HARRISON NAMED NESCAC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MEDFORD -- Sophomore Kelli Harrison (Blue Jay, CA/Rim of the World) has earned recognition as New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Volleyball Player of the Week following her performance this past weekend in leading the Jumbos to victory in the Tufts Invitational. The outside hitter has been an offensive force throughout her first two seasons at Tufts, and this week's award follows selection as First Team All-Conference in her freshman season.

On the weekend, Harrison led the Jumbos as they swept through the field of their home tournament. She averaged 4.46 kills per game with an extremely impressive .410 hitting percentage. Defensively, Harrison also had a productive weekend, providing eight blocks and averaging 3.15 digs per game. In Tufts' 3-1 win over New England's number two team, MIT, Harrison posted 24 kills.

On the season, Harrison leads Tufts with 192 total kills, good for an average of 3.49 per game and a .309 hitting percentage (both ninth in NESCAC), and she has also bolstered the offense with 16 aces, third best on the team. Defensively, Harrison has the team's second best total of digs with 215, or 3.91 per game, and she has added 32 blocks.

In her freshman campaign, Harrison also led the team in kills, with a total of 413,on a .320 hitting percentage. Her per-game average of 3.65 kills was sixth-best in the entire NESCAC. Harrison's 36 aces and 265 digs were good for second best on the team in her first season.

Harrison and the Jumbos (13-3) currently sit tied atop the NESCAC with a perfect 3-0 record, and their next big challenge lies ahead this weekend with three more big conference match-ups at Colby College. They open up the weekend against host Colby (14-4, 1-2 NESCAC), and they will meet Bates (10-5, 1-2) and Wesleyan (6-7, 0-2) on Saturday afternoon.
