DRUCKER, STEWART ARE ALL-NESCAC IN SOCCER, VOLLEYBALL
MEDFORD- The 2000 All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Teams in Men's Soccer and Women's Volleyball were announced this week. Two Tufts University student-athletes were named to the First Teams: junior
Jessica Stewart (Tallahassee, FL/Leon) of the Volleyball team, and senior co-captain
David Drucker (Potomac, MD/Wootten) of the Men's Soccer team.
Stewart has been All-NESCAC in each of her three years at Tufts. She led the team this season with 402 kills overall for an average of 3.53 per game, placing fifth in the NESCAC. She also topped the team with 301 digs. Against NESCAC teams, she averaged 3.4 kills and 2.7 digs per game. In 1999, she was also named to the All-NESCAC First-team. She led the Jumbos that year with 452 kills (3.80 per game, second in the NESCAC) and 321 digs. She was named All-NESCAC Second Team and was NESCAC Rookie of the Year in 1998, her freshman season, registering 364 kills for an average of 3.1 per game, as well as 372 digs.
Drucker is the Jumbos' second-leading scorer with 20 points on six goals and eight assists, despite missing three of the team's 16 games with an injury. Against NESCAC teams, he scored two goals and three assists in nine games, including the game-winning assist in Tufts' 1-0 victory at Trinity on October 14. He had two assists in their 4-1 victory at Wesleyan (Oct. 11). He also scored goals in a 1-1 tie at Middlebury (Sept. 16), and a 2-2 tie against Colby (Sept. 23). This is David's second appearance on the NESCAC All-Star list; he was named to the All-NESCAC Second Team in 1998, his sophomore season, after scoring 18 points on six goals and six assists. He is currently tied for ninth place on the all-time scoring list at Tufts.
The Tufts Volleyball team ended their season at .500, sporting an 18-18 record (8-8 in the NESCAC). After Wednesday afternoon's 3-1 victory at Babson College (Nov. 8) in the ECAC New England quarterfinals, the Tufts Men's Soccer team will next see action against the Keene State Owls in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) semi-finals this Saturday (Nov. 11).
