Logan Crane topped 18-feet in the long jump
to nationally qualify

NORTH EASTON -- Junior Logan Crane (Portland, ME) and
sophomore Stephanie McNamara (North Attleborough, MA) both
recorded NCAA Championships provisional qualifying marks in their
respective events to lead the Tufts women's outdoor track & field team
at the Skyhawk Invitational hosted by Stonehill College on Saturday. The
Jumbos placed fourth out of 15 teams at the event, scoring 80 points.
Crane surpassed the 17'11 1/2" NCAA provisional mark in the long jump
with an 18' 1/4" (5.49m) for second place at the meet. She was behind
only Division I Rhode Island's TyLynn Graham (18'2 1/4"/5.54m). McNamara
was a run-away winner in the 5,000 meter run with a 17:16.73 time,
easily eclipsing the 17:35 provisional time. Second-place Mary Najarian
from Rhode Island came along in 18:43.54, 1:27 behind McNamara, who
qualified in the 1,500 last weekend.
The Tufts 4x800-meter relay group of first-year Amanda Parker
(North Attleborough, MA), senior tri-captain Jackie Ferry (Studio
City, CA), sophomore Jen Yih (Palo Alto, CA) and sophomore
Amy Wilfert (Westborough, MA) scored second-place points with their
9:53.54 time.
First-year Anya Price (Natick, MA) was third in the 3,000
steeplechase (12:12.32), as was sophomore Kanku Kabongo (Abington,
MA) with a 36'7 3/4" (11.17m) triple jump and senior tri-captain
Paula Dormon (Brockton, MA) with a 39'8 3/4" (12.11m) shot put.
Coach Kristen Morwick's Jumbos are at Northeastern University next
Saturday for the Solomon Invitational.
