Game Box Score
WATERVILLE, Me. -- Tufts University scored six runs in
the top of the seventh inning to break open a tight game and earn a 7-1
victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic
Conference East Division softball Saturday. The win is the 11th in a row
for Tufts since the start of their New England schedule, and it secured
a series sweep over the Mules after Tufts won a double-header yesterday.
First-year Kim Miner (Concord, MA) pitched a
four-hit complete game for Tufts, now 18-5 overall and 6-0 in the NESCAC
East. Junior Sam Kuhles (Somerville, NJ) had a two-run single and
scored in the top of the seventh. Classmate Maya Ripecky (Chicago,
IL) hit an RBI single for the Jumbos in the fourth inning and added
a run in the seventh inning. Junior Roni Herbst (Montclair, NJ),
sophomore Casey Sullivan (Berlin, CT) and sophomore Jenna
Robey (St. Ann, MO) all singled and scored in the seventh.
Colby (6-10, 0-6 NESCAC East) got its lone run in the
bottom of the seventh when Amanda Roehn (Tampa, FL) doubled and scored
on a single by Alyssa Lepore (Victor, NY). The Mules also got a strong
outing from starter Brittany Tasi (Shelton, Conn.), who allowed just
three hits in the first six innings.
Tufts continues a busy weekend tomorrow when they travel
to Western Connecticut State University for games against Wheaton
College and the host Colonials at 1:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon,
respectively.
