MEDFORD -- Junior Courtney Thomas (Needham, MA) scored seven goals, one shy of the Tufts record, as the Jumbo women's lacrosse team rolled to a 21-6 victory against Wheaton College on Bello Field Tuesday.

Tufts, which improved to 2-1 with the non-league win, also received three goals and two assists from junior Maya Shoham (West Hartford, CT) and two goals with three assists by senior Sarah Williams (Bethesda, MD). Wheaton College (3-3) was paced by a pair of goals from first-year Emma Doyle (Hamden, CT). Annalisa Carson (Yarmouth, ME) stopped 19 shots in the Wheaton cage.

A free-position goal by Shoham had the Jumbos up 6-1 at 15:36 of the first half. Wheaton answered with an unassisted tally by Madeline Williams (Annapolis, MD), but Tufts scored the next four and led 10-2. The Jumbos had a 13-4 halftime advantage.

Wheaton scored first in the second half, a free-position goal by junior Bridget Thornton (Southington, CT). However, Tufts was able to soon run the clock with a 10-goal lead when Williams scored at 21:17 to make it 15-5. The hosts led by double-digits the rest of the way.

Eight players total scored multiple points for Tufts. Senior co-captain Alyssa Corbett (Malvern, PA) finished with three goals. Sophomore Alyssa Kopp (Hollis, NH) was solid defensively for Tufts, causing four turnovers. Thomas had 14 shots on goal for the game. First-year goalie Sara Bloom (Summit, NJ) got the win with four saves.
