JUMBOS TO MAKE FIRST-EVER NCAA TOURNAMENT

-- The Tufts University women's lacrosse team has earned its
first-ever NCAA Tournament berth, it was announced on Sunday night
by the selection committee. The Jumbos (14-2) will host Drew
University (10-7) in a first-round game on Wednesday (May 6) at
Bello Field. Game time is 5:00 pm.
Tufts was the #1 seed in this season's NESCAC
Championship after finishing the conference season with an 8-1 mark.
They received an at-large invitation into the NCAA's after losing
11-10 in overtime to Williams in the conference tournament
semifinals. Coach Carol Rappoli's Jumbos have set a school record
for victories in a season with 14. They have wins against NCAA
qualifiers Babson, Colby, Middlebury and Endicott.
Drew was the runner-up in the Landmark Conference,
losing 11-10 to Catholic University in the final. They lost 16-15 to
Bowdoin in their season-opener, a team Tufts beat 13-7. The Rangers
had a 12-11 victory against a Wellesley College team that Tufts
routed 20-3.
Tickets will be sold for the NCAA game. Admission is $5 for adults,
$4 for students and $3 for children. They will only be available on
the day of the game at the gate, which opens one hour prior to game
time.
