MEDFORD -- Tufts University women's lacrosse players
Chrissie Attura (Yarmouth, ME) and Amanda Roberts (Wenham,
MA) were both selected by the New England Small College Athletic
Conference's coaches as members of the All-Conference Second Team
today. The honor is the first for both Jumbos.
Roberts, one of just three first-year players among
the 24 honored by NESCAC, emerged as talented scorer for Tufts this
season. She's currently sixth in the conference with 52 points on 39
goals and 13 assists. In nine NESCAC games, she tallied 21 goals
with six assists for 27 points. She scored five or more goals in
four games, including a season-high six in a come-from-behind win
over Colby on April 5. Also a weapon on draw controls, Roberts is
ninth in the league with 28.
Attura displayed all-around skills in her junior
season for the Jumbos. She scored 19 goals with 18 assists for 37
points, currently ranking eighth in the conference for assists. She
is also among the top 10 in the league with 34 ground balls (tied
for seventh) and with 22 caused turnovers (tied for 10th). She had
10 goals and 10 assists during the NESCAC season.
Tufts enjoyed a successful 10-5 season. They ended
Middlebury College's 76-game winning streak in NESCAC play and also
had wins over nationally ranked teams Colby (#9), Babson (#12) and
Bowdoin (#19). Coach Carol Rappoli's team is ranked #16 in the most
recent Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association poll.
