WILLIAMSTOWN -- With a young line-up of runners, the Tufts
University women's cross country team ran to a solid eighth place
finish at the 2009 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC)
Championship Race on Saturday afternoon.
Running over a 6,000-meter course at Mount Greylock High School, the
top five Jumbo finishes added up to a score of 236. Sophomore Sadie
Lansdale (Bethesda, MD), who scored for the team at the NESCAC race
last Sunday, led the Jumbos in the ECAC's with a 24:48.8 time for 24th
place overall.
First-year Lilly Fisher (Kansas City, MO) was close behind
with a 25:03.1 time good for 28th out of 275 competitors overall. The
third Tufts finisher, 60th overall, was junior Elana Davidowitz
(Palos Verdes, CA) with a 25:49 time.
Following closely to round out the Jumbo scoring was first-year
Brittney Veeck (Fanwood, NJ) in 63rd place (25:54.5) and first-year
Ali Maykranz (Jackson, WY) in 66th place (26:00.4).
Middlebury College won the team championship with a score of 37.
Vassar College's Johanna Spangler was the individual champion with a
winning time of 22:51.6.
Tufts will run at the NCAA New England Regional Championship Race
next week, hosted by the University of Southern Maine. There Coach
Kristen Morwick's team will attempt to qualify for the NCAA Championship
Race on November 21.
