Sophomore Anya Price was the second Tufts finisher and fourth overall

BOSTON -- Transportation issues caused the Tufts women's cross country team to miss the six-kilometer race at Williams College's Plansky Invitational on Saturday, so the Jumbos had to race in the five-kilometer event instead. Junior Amy Wilfert (Westborough, MA) won it with an 18:50 time.

The 5K race did not include team scoring. The Jumbos went against a field of 49 runners from Williams College, Williams College alumni, Saint Anselm College and Manhattanville College. Wilfert's time was 13 seconds faster than Williams alumna Amy Zindell.

Nineteen Jumbos overall competed, with 10 finishing among the top 15. In second for Tufts and fourth overall was sophomore Anya Price (Natick, MA) with a finishing time of 20:03. Sophomore Bryn Kass (Santa Barbara, CA) was seventh overall (20:16), followed by first-year Grace Hafner (Healdsburg, CA) in eighth place (20:55). Junior Jen Yih (Palo Alto, CA) was the fifth Tufts runner to place among the top 10 with her time of 21-minutes flat.

The Jumbos will run for the Mayor's Cup at Boston's Franklin Park next Sunday, the last race before the championship season begins.
