WORCESTER -- The Tufts University women's crew A 4+ boat took second place at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta on Saturday to open the 2009-2010 season.

Tufts A crossed the finish line in 19:16.726, more than 11 seconds behind a fast WPI crew that won the race. The Tufts B team had a 20:32.721 time for fifth place out of 11 entrants in the race overall.

Out of 26 boats in the 8+ race, the Tufts A team was 11th with a 18:47.321 time, the B team was 16th (19:30.976) and the C team was 17th (19:34.410).

Coach Gary Caldwell's rowers compete in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta next weekend.
