LEWISTON, Me. -- The Tufts University Volleyball team started off the Bates Invitational tournament with a 3-1 win against Brandeis on Friday.  Tufts won the first two games in 30-19 and 30-27, but lost 25-30 in the third game, only to come back in the fourth, 30-23, to top their local rivals.

Freshman April Gerry (Holmes, NY) had an amazing 21 kills in the game as well as two aces, 12 digs, and three block assists.  Sophomore Emily Macy (Henderson, NV) had 14 kills and led the team in defense with 22 digs.  Junior Amy Cronin (Kirkland, WA) had 11 kills and 9 digs while sophomore Alison Sauer (Larchmont, NY) added four kills and 12 digs.  Junior Lindsay Moses (San Francisco, CA) was there for 47 assists and 13 digs, with freshman Courtney Evans (Bellaire, TX) obtaining 3 block assists and a block solo.

After the completion of the Bates Invitational, the Jumbos' next game is at home against Emmanuel College on October 8.
