Game Box Score

SOMERVILLE -- Junior Erika Maciaszczyk (Milton, MA) scored her third goal of the season and first-year Emily Weedon (Wellesley, MA) picked up her fifth shutout to lead visiting Trinity College to a 1-0 win over Tufts in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) match Saturday morning at Kraft Field.

Maciaszczyk collected a pass from first-year Caroline Washburne (Medfield, MA) at the top of the box and Maciaszczyk chipped the ball past onrushing Jumbo keeper Kate Minnehan (Hopkinton, MA) for the lone tally of the contest in the 57th minute.

Senior Joelle Emery (Bedford, NH) had a chance to tie the contest in the 64th minute on a penalty kick, but the shot was stopped by Weedon, who made 11 saves in the game. The Jumbos (9-2, 6-1 NESCAC) out-shot the Bantams (6-3-2, 4-2-1 NESCAC) by an 18-2 margin in the match. They also had a first-half attempt that deflected off the crossbar which Weedon was able to smother.

Minnehan suffered her first loss of the season, falling to 8-1, while Weedon improves to 6-3-2 in her initial season with Trinity. The loss ends Tufts' eight-game winning streak, while Trinity has won two-out-of its last three.

Tufts will host Keene State in a non-conference affair on Wednesday at Kraft Field with kick-off set for 3:30 pm. It's the final home game of their regular season. Trinity returns home to host Bowdoin in a NESCAC match on Saturday with kick-off slated for 11:00 am.
