WATERVILLE, Me. Laura Williamson (Manchester, CT) scored her 25th collegiate goal and added an assist to lead the Colby College women's soccer team to a 2-0 season-opening victory over Tufts University in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.

 

Williamson, who is just a junior, now has 25 goals and nine assists for 59 career points and moved into a tie for fourth place on Colby's all-time scoring list. Williamson also moved into third place on the goal scoring list behind Christine O'Donnell '03 (43 goals) and Kim Waldron '99 (29 goals).

 

Williamson scored off a header from a pass from Katie McCabe (Watertown, CT) at the 19:46 of the first half. Liz Morbeck (Seattle, WA) got the other goal with just under eight minutes remaining off an assist from Williamson.

 

Liza Benson (Orchid, FL) stopped 11 shots for the Colby (1-0, 1-0 NESCAC) shutout. Junior Annie Ross (Newton, MA) made six saves for Tufts (0-1, 0-1).
