NEW LONDON, Conn. --Tufts University, ranked #13 in the latest NSCAA Division III National Women's Soccer Poll, defeated Connecticut College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. Junior striker Jen Baldwin (Medway, MA) notched a pair of second half scores, leading the Jumbos to victory in the NESCAC tilt.

Senior Becca Doigan (West Bloomfield, MI) put the visitors on top 1-0 in the 28th minute of play. In the late stages of the first half Connecticut College, the ninth ranked team in the latest NSCAA Regional New England Ranking applied some pressure. Sophomore strikers Caite McNeil (Steep Falls, ME) and Margaret Bacon (Sutton, MA) each had shots inside the 18. In the 40th minute, Abby Houghton (Cambridge, MA) went in alone on a 1-on-1, but her shot just slipped wide of the left crossbar.

Baldwin added the second score in the 68th minute for Tufts and provided some insurance with the final score in the 75th minute.  Junior Meg McCourt (Rochester, NY) finished with nine saves for Tufts. Lindsay Graff (Montpelier, VT) and Laura Gosnell (E. Windsor, NJ) teamed up to make 10 saves for the Camels.

The Jumbos are now off until next Sunday when they play a NESCAC match at Bates. Connecticut College will host Mount Holyoke College in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.
