WENHAM -- Visiting Tufts dropped their first game of the season to Gordon 2-0 on Tuesday.  With the victory, Gordon extends their home winning streak to 16 games and brings their overall record to 4-0.  Lindsey Benson had a hand in both Gordon goals, assisting on the first and scoring the second.

The Tufts defense was strong and limited the Scots to only three shots.  Unfortunately for the Jumbos, Gordon picked their chances and made a couple of excellent shots.  Gordon's Kelly Stinson started off the scoring in the 18th minute, knocking in a feed from Benson.  The Jumbos held off the Gordon attack until the 73rd minute, when Benson scored the second and final goal.

The Tufts offense could not capitalize on their scoring chances, getting off eight shots but not finishing any of them.  Gordon keeper Anna Stempien was extremely tough in goal and finished the game with eight saves.  For the Jumbos, junior forward Jess Trombley (Nashua, NH/Bishop Guertin) and freshman midfielder Lydia Claudio (Woburn, MA/Open Bible Academy) both had two shots on goal.

The Jumbos face an extremely tough test in their next game against nationally ranked #2 Amherst College.  This NESCAC rivalry continues on Saturday at Amherst College.  Kickoff is at 11 am.
