MEDFORD -- Senior tri-captain Sara Yeatman (Santa Monica, CA) scored two goals and assisted on another in the first half alone as the host Tufts University Jumbos rolled to an easy 5-0 victory over the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Engineers in New England women's soccer action on Thursday afternoon.

The win was the 14th straight in the regular-season against a non-conference opponent for the Jumbos. Tufts hasn't lost to a non-league game during the regular season since a 2-1 setback to Anna Maria on October 13, 1998. Head coach Martha Whiting's team improved to 11-2 overall, while WPI dropped its fourth straight and fell to 5-10-1 overall.

Tufts used its head in this game, scoring three goals off headers. Sophomore Alle Sharlip (Kentfield, CA) scored the first goal of the game off her noggin just five minutes in on a crossing pass by Yeatman. Yeatman then headed in a cross from junior Becky Mann (Ridgefield, CT) in the 13th minute, and the Jumbos were off and rollings. Another goal by Yeatman made it 3-0 at the half. Sophomore Elizabeth Tooley (Syracuse, NY) scored unassisted and junior Lynn Cooper (Wilton, CT) headed one in late for teh 5-0 final.

Junior Mara Schanfield (St. Paul, MN) earned the win in goal with a seven-save shutout. Senior Brooke LeClair (Acton, MA) and freshman Abby Rarus (North Yarmouth, ME) saw 30 Tufts shots and combined for 17 saves.

The Jumbos finish the regular season on Saturday versus Williams. It's Homecoming Day at Tufts.
