MEDFORD - The Tufts women's soccer team scored two goals in the second half to defeat Williams College for the first time in 10 years, 2-0, in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action on Saturday afternoon. It was Homecoming Day at Tufts.

After a scoreless first half, junior forward Lynn Cooper (Wilton, CT) scored her fifth goal of the year in the 63rd minute on a beautiful cross from freshman Jess Trombly (Nashua, NH). In the 76th minute junior midfielder Katie Kehrberger (Waldwick, NJ) delivered on a corner kick that curled in the net.

Tufts senior goalkeeper Randee McArdle (East Nassau, NY) tied a Tufts record with the 20th shutout of her career. She made six saves. Junior Melissa Purdy (Orwell, VT) stopped two shots in the Williams net.

Tufts has secured a spot into the NESCAC Championship tournament with a 12-2 record while Williams drops to 9-5. The Jumbos will host a NESCAC playoff game on Tuesday (Oct. 24) at 2 pm.
