MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Behind a stellar effort by goalie Ali Connolly and a game-winning goal by Anna Gayman, Middlebury defeated Tufts today 1-0 in New England Small College Athletic Conference women's soccer action.

The first half was highlighted by an outstanding save by Connolly off a breakaway by Tufts sophomore Alle Sharlip (Kentfield, CT). Although the Jumbos out-shot the Panthers 9-2 in the first half, the game remained tied at zero. The game stayed scoreless until 85:42, when Gayman put a header just beyond the reach of Jumbos senior goalie Randee McArdle (East Nassau, NY) off a corner kick from Kendra Slater. Connolly withstood a flurry of Tufts shots with under one minute remaining to preserve the victory for the Panthers.

Connolly made nine saves in all for the Panthers. McArdle stopped two shots for the Jumbos.
