WENHAM -- The Tufts Jumbos matched their skills and impressive record with the equally able Fighting Scots of Gordon College on Tuesday and Tufts came away with a 3-1 victory.

Tufts began their offensive surge against Gordon in the 12th minute of the game when junior Sara Standish (Brunswick, ME) scored off a cornerkick. Senior tri-captain Sara Yeatman (Santa Monica, CA) seperated the Jumbos from the Fighting Scots further with her goal in the 29th minute, assisted by Lynn Cooper (Wilton, CT). Lindsey Carr scored off a pass from Bess Watson in the 42nd minute to put Gordon up on the scoreboard and to keep the Scotts within striking distance.

Freshman Jess Trombly (Nashua, NH/ Bishop Guertin) sealed the game for Tufts with a goal in the 50th minute. Senior tri-captain Randee McArdle (East Nassau, NY) made three saves to post the win in the Tufts cage, while Sarah Baker had 10 stops for the Scots.

The Jumbos play Bates College this Sunday (Oct. 1) at 12 pm in Medford.
