MEDFORD -- Sophomore Elizabeth Tooley (Syracuse, NY) scored in the 110th minute of play to lift the Tufts women's soccer team to a come-from-behind 3-2 overtime victory against Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Tufts trailed 2-0 until late in the game. Sophomore Adie Sherwood (Woodinville, WA) converted a beautiful cross pass from junior Lynn Cooper (Wilton, CT) with 18 minutes remaining in regulation to put Tufts on the scoreboard. Three minutes later, senior tri-captain Carmen Mikacenic (Seattle, WA) scored after a Jumbo corner kick to even the score at 2-2.
After 15 minutes of a scoreless first OT, another corner kick that bounced out to Tooley led to the game-winner for the Jumbos. Tufts improved to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the competitive NESCAC.
Colby (2-3, 1-2), took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by sophomore Julie Brown (Montclair, NJ) in the 21st minute. They extended the lead to 2-0 10 minutes into the second half on a goal by Christine O'Donnell (Salem, MA).
The Jumbos came roaring back for the huge win, which will help lift them into the top part of the league standings
