MEDFORD -- In a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament first-round game won by Tufts, host Colby College gained a measure of revenge with a 2-1 victory over the Jumbos in NESCAC women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

In a closely contested match between the league rivals, Colby got the upper hand by scoring twice in the first 25 minutes. Elizabeth Rice and Christine O'Donnell (assisted by Rice) gave the Mules a margin Tufts could not come back from. Tufts leading scorer Lynn Cooper (Wilton, CT) scored her third of the year before halftime, but the second half went scoreless and the Jumbos fell to 3-2 overall.

Junior tri-captain Randee McArdle (East Nassau, NY) returned between the pipes after sitting out a game with a thigh bruise. She stopped six shots, while her counterpart Emily Posner made three saves for Colby.

Tufts travels to play arch-rival Wellesley on Tuesday (Sept. 28) at 4 p.m.
