MEDFORD -- The Tufts Jumbos recorded their eighth shutout of the season with a smothering effort for a 2-0 victory over the Brandeis Judges in New England women's college soccer action on Tuesday afternoon.

Tufts, ranked sixth in this week's regional poll, allowed the visiting Judges just one shot. Junior keeper Randee McArdle (East Nassau, NY) did not have to make a save while recording the 15th shutout of her career. The Jumbos also compiled a 19-2 edge in corner kicks.

The Tufts offense scored two goals despite 41 shots at the Brandeis net, hitting a few posts in the process. Senior tri-captain Jessie Thomas (Mountain View, CA) scored the game-winner in the 30th minute, her first of the season. Senior Sarah Stevens (Winchester, MA), who assisted on Thomas's tally, pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 60th minute and the Jumbos cruised from there.

Brandeis sophomore keeper Michelle Goldschmid (Redwood City, CA) stood strong to keep the Judges in the game. She finished with 21 saves.
