FALLER IS NESCAC CROSS COUNTRY
PERFORMER OF THE WEEK FOR SECOND TIME
For the second time this season, junior Jesse Faller (Burlington,
MA) of the Tufts University men's cross country team has been
selected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference's
Performer of the Week. The choice was easy, as Faller was the first
runner for the conference and the first from Division III overall to
cross the finish line at the 2008 New England Championship at
Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday.
Faller's time of 24:55 was sixth at the New England Championship,
just seconds out of fourth place. The race featured 316 runners
overall from Division I, II and III schools in the region.
Fourth-place finisher Kevin Gill of Stonehill was a second in front
of Faller at 24:54. The next Division III finisher behind Faller was
MIT's Hemu Arumugam in 27th place (25:19), while the second NESCAC
finisher was Brendan Christian of Williams in 29th (25:20).
The high finish by Faller helped the Jumbos place 19th as a team
with a score of 528. Forty-seven schools overall were represented at
Faller has been outstanding on the course at Franklin Park this
season. He was first named NESCAC Performer of the Week this season
two weeks ago on September 29 after winning the 41st Annual Codfish
Bowl at Franklin Park on September 27.
